RACHEL A.Z. CAVANAUGH
Co-Founder, Principal Designer and CEO
Based out of Flower Mound, Texas, Rachel’s favourite titles are ‘wife’ of Johnny and ‘mama’ to their four miraculous little treasures. Raised by entrepreneurial parents, it was not uncommon for Rachel’s father (a high-end furniture designer) to loop her in on his projects, sparking her passion for design at an early age. Rachel's Costa Rican and Canadian heritage greatly influenced her aesthetics, as she was drawn to the earthy and sustainable European style and fascinated by the psychology behind color theory. Transitioning from the modeling industry to motherhood, Rachel soon found her niche in interior design projects throughout the Dallas area. Her signature style is characterized by timeless elegance, while infusing a sense of warmth and comfort into every home she curates for her clients. Rachel believes that a well-designed space should be inviting and livable— nothing like the sterile feel of a museum. Together with her team, they are committed to designing bespoke homes that embrace & reflect each family’s unique culture, function, and feel.
JOHNNY CAVANAUGH
Co-Founder, General Contractor
Johnny discovered his passion for craftsmanship at a young age, creating a chair from scrap wood when he was only seven years old. Though he pursued a different career path in sales and innovation, it wasn't until after his marriage to Rachel that he returned to woodworking. When their premature daughter, Finnley, was born at 29weeks, Johnny used his skills to build furniture and help cover the expenses of their time in the NICU. This life-changing hobby ignited a deep love for woodworking, prompting Johnny to leave his sales job after 12 years. Together with Rachel, he co-founded Cavie & Co., a well-respected carpentry & contracting company. Hand in hand, Johnny and Rachel balance their roles as business owners and parents to their four (adopted / biological / foster) children.
